Fenwick – Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West, joined Marvin Junkin, Mayor of the Town of Pelham, along with local councillors and members of the Fenwick Lions Club, at Centennial Park in Fenwick to announce a $150,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation supporting upgrades at the local park.
“Centennial Park in Fenwick has long been a favourite destination for local families in the Town of Pelham for sport and recreation,” said Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West.
“This capital grant through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to upgrade the washroom facilities at Centennial Park follows recent funding from the province to construct basketball and pickleball courts at the park, providing community infrastructure that will benefit local residents for years to come.”
In addition to a new universal washroom, the funding supported the installation of new fixtures and doors in the existing restrooms. These capital improvements to Centennial Park have enhanced the experience of all visitors and better serve park guests of all ages and abilities.
“The Town of Pelham is very fortunate to have continued to receive support for key projects that improve the recreational hub in Fenwick at Centennial Park,” said Vickie vanRavenswaay, Director of Recreation, Culture and Wellness at the Town of Pelham.
“The addition of a universal washroom will be a welcome addition for the many families and organizations that utilize the open spaces and facilities in the park, making it a more accessible space for all visitors.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, is one of Canada’s leading community granting foundations. In 2022, the Ontario Trillium Foundation invested over $110 million into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
