Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital Grant Supports Community Care of West Niagara

Beamsville – Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West, joined Carole Fuhrer, Executive Director of Community Care of West Niagara, to announce a $60,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation supporting the purchase of a new walk-in cooler and freezer for the local food bank.

“Community Care of West Niagara has supported vulnerable residents in the Town of Lincoln since 1967,” said Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West.

“This capital grant by our government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to purchase a new walk-in cooler and freezer will increase food storage capacity and help feed more families in need.”

“We are grateful for the funding provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Carole Fuhrer, Executive Director of Community Care of West Niagara.

“This generous grant allowed us to purchase a new walk-in cooler and freezer. We are very thankful as this investment strengthens our capacity to serve the ever-increasing number of Lincoln residents facing food insecurity.”

The provincial grant, first awarded in November 2022, supported the purchase of the new cooler and freezer, replacing aging food storage equipment.

A registered charitable non-profit organization, Community Care of West Niagara, a member food banks of Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada, provides essential services and support to local families and individuals facing economic hardship and food insecurity.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, is one of Canada’s leading community granting foundations. In 2022, the Ontario Trillium Foundation invested over $110 million into 1,022 community projects and partnerships.
