April 13, 2026

Beamsville – Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West, congratulated Carole Fuhrer, Executive Director of Community Care of West Niagara, today, as a recipient of $98,700 in funding received through a Seed Grant of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

“I applaud our frontline food distribution coordinators and dedicated volunteers in Niagara West who work every day to fight hunger across our region,” said Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West.

“This provincial seed grant from our government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation will help support important capital and equipment upgrades for Community Care of West Niagara and FEED Niagara.”

The provincial grant will help build capacity and provide additional storage and equipment for Community Care of West Niagara – in partnership with FEED Niagara – to support local food banks in Lincoln and across Niagara by expanding food storage and coordinating local food distribution.

“Community Care of West Niagara has seen the benefit and positive impact that FEED Niagara has created for member food banks and the residents we serve through increased collaboration and partnership,” said Carole Fuhrer.

“I look forward to seeing how FEED Niagara will develop new opportunities and continue to make a positive impact in Niagara.”

“This provincial grant comes at an important time for FEED Niagara,” said David Vandersteen, Manager of FEED Niagara.

“As we scale up our operations in Lincoln, the equipment provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation allows us to bring significantly more capacity to our member food banks across Niagara. This means more food on more shelves helping more people every day.”

A registered food bank with Feed Niagara and Feed Ontario, Community Care of West Niagara has been providing essential community services to support families and individuals in need in Lincoln since 1967. As a new and growing network organization, FEED Niagara represents ten regional food banks, coordinating local efforts and facilitating food delivery and care to where and when it is most needed.

“We are proud to support Community Care of West Niagara through the use of a Town-owned facility that will help strengthen food security across our community and beyond,” said Sandra Easton, Mayor of the Town of Lincoln.

“This initiative is a powerful example of what can be achieved when municipalities and community partners work together by leveraging our local assets and collaborating through networks like Feed Niagara. Together, we are helping ensure families have more consistent access to the support they need. Partnerships like this are essential to building a more resilient and compassionate community.”

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference,” said Hon. Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.

“That is why funding that my Ministry is providing through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. Our government wants to ensure that these programs and spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, is one of Canada’s leading community granting foundations. Last year, the Ontario Trillium Foundation invested nearly $107 million into 746 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
